maybe there is a simple explanation but this is not my area.

Some pages on the net I hit make my CPU spin out of control (95-97% usage). Close this browser window, back to normal. Some websites are like that (I recall www.wrongdiagnosis.com, although I just checked didn't do it now) used to be notorious for causing that. Btw. That's mostly on my laptop. What's the explanation, prevention, cure?

    Happened to anyone?

also some linked pages here (outside videohelp do that)...weird

    Any ideas?

Just guessing - ActiveX, Javascript error. Or you've got an antispyware app that's not set properly.

You can do a basic test by switching to a different browser and going to the same web pages. Try Firefox if you're running IE, or vice versa.

Also, hit CTRL-ALT-DEL and look at your process info - it'll tell you if it's a specific app that runs your CPU high.

Iexplore.exe in processes, always. Will try firefox but I'm kind of used to IE. I know something triggers it, question is what could it be.
    I'm running AVG Free.
