I've been using my VCR's output (red, yellow and white cables) connected to Canopus ADVC-110 analog input and preview with Ulead VideoStudio 7se to capture tv programs into my hard drive.
I wanted to do programmed capturing, but Ulead VideoStudio7 doesn't have the feature for that. I have to click on the start and stop buttons to capture a particular tv program.
Is there a software that will work with Canopus-110 for programmed capture? Suggestions and recommendations would be much appreciated.

Describe "programmed capture".
Are you saying you want remote control of the VCR?Recommends: Kiva.org - Loans that change lives.

What I wanted to do is to be able to set the time to start and end capture via the program. I just want the capture to be automatic at the set time instead of me having to sit down infront of the computer to click on the capture button of the Ulead VideoStudio7 at the beginning and end of a tv show. Thanks for the responding.

I have tried VirtualVCR, GP-PVR and Got All Media but they don't recognize the Canopus ADVC-110.
With the Ulead VideoStudio7se the "Source:" says "Unknown-MS" but the tv show can be seen on its preview window and can be captured to the hard drive. The tv program shown on the preview also changes accordingly when I change the channel on my vcr. -
ScenalyzerLive can do this perfectly.
It has a very nice build in scheduler for capturing.
I used that a lot with my TV captures through my D8/DV camcorder.
If you want a free solution you can also use the WINDV software.
You can use it to automatically capture for a specified duration allowing unattended operation. And by setting up a .bat file you can schedule capture using Windows scheduler. -
Yes, ScenalyzerLive can do it
Ulead and most of the other capture/editing software omit a capture scheduler. I never understood this.
Those who are Windows or programmer saavy would use a generic Windows scheduler or script program to do this but it should be built in for the other 98% of users.
As for WinDV, you can tell it when to stop but not when to start (inside the program). This is another example where it could be added with little effort. -
WinDV recognizes the canopus110 and I can see the tv show although without sound on its preview window, but I'm dumbfounded on how to make it schedule a recording. There are no controls or buttons to set the time for the scheduled recording.
The_Doman how do I go about "setting up a .bat file you can schedule capture using Windows scheduler" to be able to do scheduled recording? Thanks again. -
"without sound"? hmm
I always hear sound. Try Type1 vs Type2 but this will affect other programs. Maybe your sound card needs a different source.
In WinDv you can set the duration of a recording ("Max AVI size (frames)") but not the start time. Not unless you use a scheduling program* and learn to use it.
I'm on your side. This should be in the application.
* Starting with Windows "Schedule Tasks" (under system tools). -
Yes the sound is present during playback of the recorded file with WinDV. I'll try edDV's suggestion to learn Windows Schedule Task."
I also downloaded the ScenalyzerLive and did a trial run. It immediately showed the tv program on the preview window. The recorded file looked good and the timer feature seemed easy to use.
It is really a very tempting program to buy. It's my last resort if I'm not able to learn using the Windows Schedule Task for the scheduled recording.
Thanks you edDV, The_Doman and bits for your help. -
ScenalyzerLive won't affect transfer quality but it adds many additional features.
It's main claim to fame is "optical" scene detection. This may be helpful for isolating commercials but also uses more CPU. -
I've also heard that using ScenalyzerLive can solve A/V sync issues if you are having that problem with other DV capture/transfer programs.
Granted there should be no A/V sync issue with a DV capture/transfer but this does happen sometimes with certain computers ... it probably has something to do with the way the particular computer system is "set-up".
All I am saying is that those who have had A/V sync issues with DV capture/transfer say that ScenalyzerLive was the only program that worked without the A/V sync issues.

It works! Thanks for the tip The_Doman and edDV! I now have a record scheduler for WinDV. Now I no longer have to sit infront of the computer waiting for the time to click on WinDV's capture button to start and stop capturing. Thanks also to everyone who responded to my query.
