Today is the first day M$ opened their search engine.

well here it is, and In my opinion the interface and return results suck. Not gonna dent the market share w/ this offering IMO.

I agree. I saw this on the news and checked it out this morning. The return results are worse than ask.com

If you search for my personal forum name on google I'm the first link. If you use Windows Live Search I'm like 5.

    Result I don't like it.

At least now I know why MS has been scanning my website 3+ times a day.

  6. okay, yea....umm...that search engine is TERRIBLE...it's rather slow in comparison to google (it took like five seconds for my search results to pop up) but it also doesnt get NEARLY as many hits for a searched term....

There is a feedback button provided so you can give them information on what you feel will improve not only the interface but also any other aspects of this new beta search source. After using this periodically throughout the day I have finally submitted my feedback. It seems this searches usefulness grows as you continue to use it. Make sure to log-in in order to achieve this benefit.

Then this search engine will never be better for you. You must take advantage of it's features in order to receive the benefits. If you are that worried about someone knowing your searching habits perhaps it's better you not use search engines. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/4700002.stm

good thing I dont use google desktop. I dont think I should have to log into a search engine to get usefullness out of it. I have nothing to hide from the governement so thats not an issue for me.

Well I did a few searches that I commonly do on other engines when I'm checking up on my websites and the main search term I'm interested in returns results very similar to what Google has.. there was one spam page.. spam page even had my name on it... kinda makes me feel special...

Was kinda slow though, also I like the simplicity of Google, a boxe you put your term in. Beside I have the google toolbar and don't use the search pages anyway.

Do you think they read all of the feedback or just every fifth one or not at all until the feedback reporting slows down. I've made some feedback for places before and it was similar to what A LOT of other people would reply as feedback too. However, they did nothing to help it. People stopped offering feedback about it and 6 months later they did something about it.

Google's just been around too much for me to switch right now. I can still find posts of mine from old forums in their cache that aren't even around anymore!
