Hello. Using divxtoDVD I converted what was an xvid to DVD format and then burnt the files using the nero. Playback through the DVD player is for the most part fine but occasionally gets blocky and freezes before resuming a few seconds later. Is there a way to prevent this?

    Thanks

PS I converted the avi from NTSC to PAL first using this guide

If the source AVI is 100% error free, the only reason for this behaviour I can see is a bad disc.
Play the DVD from HDD (on your computer) to see if the errors are already there.
Also, instead of burning with Nero, I suggest ImgBurn

I presume you mean Imation, not Imitation?
Anyway, that's just a brand. Use DVDInfo Pro or similar to find out who's really made the disc. Take a look at www.nomorecoasters.com for a rundown of what's good and not.
Still: Does the DVD files play fine from HDD?

    Whoops, yes imation.

I played the VOBS this afternoon using cyberlink DVD and did not get any blockiness, so looks like the disc maybe, I will try on another. Not sure about it being nero as another video I converted played fine through my DVD player.

Why do you recommend imgburn over Nero?

Because it's better and free. ImgBurn is the DVD burner part of DVDDecrypter that's still updated.
A year ago (give or take one...) there was a burner app "shootout" and DVDDecrypter came out at the top - to no ones surprise.

That sounds like a good slogan:

Imation. Taking the IT out of ImITation.
    If in doubt, Google it.
