Hi I am using TMPGENC plus 2.5 to convert movie files to DVD.
Wmv, mpeg, mpg files no problem, they can be supported.
AVI, Ogm/Ogg files initially can't, but after i read and install the codec, all can be converted in just one click. No need to separated video and audio and combine again.
The problem now is mkv file. (It show .avi yet it can't play on any wmv, divx player but can play on VLC player). I check on VLC, it show DX50 & vorb codec. I read again and come to know that it is a mkv file and related codec is installed. So now i can view it on my wmv player. BUT MY TMPGENC STILL CAN'T SUPPORT IT.
Why TMPGENC still can't support? coz i read it and it should have no problem coz WMV is playable..
Any experts please help! I did read and search for solution and this is my last hope.
I noticed that winavi can convert mkv files but quality wise?? good? TMPGENC show 384kbit for audio yet winavi only support till 224kbit.

Really should update it. Then again maybe it will already be updated by the time you read this.
Also maybe Gabest updated the version on SF? -
Its a big pitty that the TMPEG developers dont at all respect the matroska project, they not only didnt want to work with us on adding good MKV support to their program, they even informed us they dont respect MKV as a standard.
Since we moved from Gabest's splitter to Haali's splitter, TMPG won't work for reading MKV files anylonger.

There you go anyway. mkv is officially unsupported. I guess use a different app if you want to convert mkv files.
Gabest still updates his mkv splitter though. Should work fine with native AVC, wavpack, etc. and maybe still work with TMPGEnc? I know newer versions of VSFilter don't. As I said, the dshow input is very picky.
There is always AVISynth with directshowsource(). -
Try DVD Santa Ver 4. This will convert mkv. files to dvd.
