About 2 years ago, I got a Grabbit USB. It captures well at 320x240x25FPS, but still has a tendency to drops frames. So, I'm ready to step up. Here are some things I'd like in a capture card...

    NO droped frams
    TV Quality
    Hardware compessor
    Less than $200

I use Premiere 6.0 and Ulead VideoStudio 3.0, so I'd like one that would work with both of these
I plan to capture stuff from tape, edit, then return it to tape, so a TV out wouldn't be bad, but I do have a TV out on my video card.

So are there any good cards that fit within my preferencees?

    Darren
(If you need to know my computer specs, I have an Athlon 1.4GHz, 256M RAM, GF2 GTS w/ 32M DDR)

In that price range you have the ati 7500 radeon, or for about half that amount you can get the ati AIW radeon, you didn't say if you are happy with you video card or want to update that as well, if so either one of these cards would be a great choicen with the 7500 you get a little better gaming performance but no tuner, with the AIW you get very good gaming performance, better than gforce 2, and a tv tuner.

I'm very happy with my video card. I want somthing PCI(or USB if there is anything like I want.) I also don't care for a tuner, because my computer is just a few feet from my TV.

After searching around alittle, I came across the Studio AV version 7. It looks pretty good, but I can't find alot of info on it. Can anyone give me some info in it?

  5. I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think it's that much different from the Pinnacle Sys Studio DC10Plus, which captures in MJPEG (hw).

Check pinnacle's website. You should find more info there.

...well...I could acually find some info on the DC10+, but not all of it was good. This is exactly what I want, but I hear of people having hardware problems(computer quits detecting it after about 5 days.) I also read somthing about the video flipping upside down when converting it. And onther sad note, people said the output was slugish, even on a Duron 800...

So, I don't know if I want either of these now...is there another capture card close to the DC10+?
