I have a .VOB file that I want to convert to Xvid and I'm not sure what to do with the audio. I dont know of a tool to determine how many channels or what bitrate the stream is.

GSpot doesn't seem to provide much info other than "Audio Src: MPEG2_AUDIO".

Is there a tool like GSpot that will give me more info on an MPEG-2 Stream to help me better decide how to handle the compression without losing much quality and without unneccecarily increasing filesize?

    Thanks.

I downloaded the latest beta of GSpot and got this info:

    Codec: MPEG-1 Layer 2
    Info: 0xc0:48000Hz 224 kb/s total (2 chnls)

This looks like a great revision of GSpot. Heres a link for you guys.

Being that the Source audio is only stereo it would be pointless to convert it to AC3 audio, right? I should probably go with MP3 with about 160k bitrate?
