  1. Hey,
    I'm going nuts here.

I made a footage for the place i work and they requested me to make a DVD out of it. I spent days working in Sony Vegas and created, in my opinion, great movie
From time to time i used a scene-splitting transition. I put solid black background (fading out and in between the footages) and then i put text on it also fading in and out. Vegas rendered it perfectly. So i encoded it at 8000 to mpeg2 with TMPGEnc. I burned a test DVD to see how does it looks like on a stand-alone player.

It plays back without problems.. all the scenes.. EXCEPT for the parts when i use black background with little text. Then the playback starts to stutter. Instead of fading in and out it kinda jumps in.. stays there a bit and then jumps out.
The credit sequence at the end of the movie suffered the worst.. all my generated credits were either jumping across the screen instead of scrolling or the fade-in effects were completely gone.

I spent whole night googling and experimenting with different bitrates and parameters and i can't seem to get the grasp of this problem.
I'm leaning to think that the 8000kbps bitrate might be causing the problem.. but video plays perfectly.. except for those scene change transitions and credit sequence.

    HEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLPPPPPP!!!!!

Maybe go back into Vegas and render just a problem scene or fade using Vegas' encoder? Burned to RW this would let you tweak encoder settings & eliminate the TMPGEnc encoder as possible problems. Vegas default mpg2 DVD templates should work well for starters.

Otherwise as a side note, you usually don't want anything at full white (255 on PC).
