  1. I just installed the 5.1 surround plug-in but when I render a project in Vegas 6.0 under Dolby Digital AC-3 type and a 5.1 surround DVD template, I always get the same error. The error reads, "An error occured while creating the media file. The requested plug-in does not have the necessary features unlocked." I'm thinking I need an AC-3 encoder, but I think I already have it. Other than that, I have no idea what the problem means. I need help, I'm doing this for an upcoming video project I have to do for a class.

The Dolby Digital AC-3 encoder is usually packaged only in the Vegas+DVD version.

  3. Does that mean I would have to install DVD Architect 3.0?

  4. Oh wait, nevermind. I guess I had to install the DVD Architect first. It's working now. Thanks.

  5. Ok, the plug-in works now but the problem is when I render my project I don't get video, just the audio itself. Does anyone know the problem here?

you have to render both -- i.e. twice, once for audio and once for video --

    or

use the built in script that comes with vegas to do both ...

you dont get program streams , but two elementary streams

  7. I tried that (rendered the audio then rendered it with the video after that) but I'm still not getting any video. It rendered the audio as a wav. file, but since it still didn't render correctly, I tried joining the video and audio using Virtualdub and TMPGEnc, but it won't save it with the audio. The next time I rendered the audio on Vegas, it became an ac3. file. I don't get why it won't render as wav. anymore using the same 5.1 suround DVD template. Virtualdub gives me an error saying to check if the wav. file is valid. TMPGEnc just can't plain out create the file.

How do I use the script? There's an option that says "scripting" if that's what you're talking about, but I haven't tried that yet, seeing that I've never heard of it until now.

A compliant 5.1 channel (in fact, and number of complimant channels) AC3 file gets the extension .AC3, so you know that's what it is. For DVD, WAV is usually reserved for LPCM audio.

You need to spend some serious time reading the manual and online help that ships with Vegas, and try to understand how it works. Otherwise we can't really help you.
