  1. i've been converting avi to (s)vcd/dvd w/tmpgenc for a while now and i'm pretty comfortable at it
i realizes that i can use filters w/virtualdub or avisynth filters to help make the video quality better during the conversion
so i thought i start using virtualdub to frameserve the video to tmpgenc
don't know muh about it so here's a few q:
which filters should i use when i frameserve to tmpgenc = virtualdub or avisynth
    > if virtualdub
can someone provide a good sets of filters to use
can someone provide a simple tutorial

    > if avisynth
can someone provide a good sets of filters to use

Probably http://neuron2.net/ is one of the best places for filters for VD and Avisynth.

You should realize that filters aren't generally to improve the video, but to fix problems with it. (I realize there are filters to do many things, this is just a generalization. ) What do you want from the filters?

If you look at the tool page for VirtualDub, you will see guides for filters to the bottom of the page.

Using Avisynth is generally faster and more efficient than VD for filtering, but has a steeper learning curve. Same thing, look to the bottom of the Avisynth page for guides.

The quality doesn't really change with frameserving. But you won't have to create a 'edited' version of your video, so it does save time and hard drive space.
