    i just brought a hitachi dv-p755u from Circuit City and it does not play vcd. is it now all dvd players in the market do not play vcd?

    No, just certain ones.

    When I first bought my Pioneer DVD-525, it's KNOWN that Toshiba DVD players at the time does NOT play VCD's. Seems that's still true nowadays.
