In researching the Pioneer DVR-633, I thought I understood that you could setup recording dates and times just like a regular VCR. So far, I cannot find out how to do this. For example, I might want to record a show at 10AM and then another at 6PM.
I cannot use the TV Guide feature since I have DirecTV (Satellite). If I have to be present for every show I want to record, this defeats the purpose. Please tell me there's an easy way.

Ok, I found the answer on another forum. Whew! Thought I was going to have to return this.

1) All actions are performed on the DVR remote.
2) Your TV Guide must already have been setup. I have satellite so I entered 99999 as the zip. This disabled everything.
1. Press the TV Guide button
2. Press the Menu button
3. Select the option to go to the Service bar
4. On the Service bar, highlight “Schedule” but do not select it by pressing enter
5. Press the Menu button
6. Select “New Manual Recording”
7. Enter the start/end times and date of the recording
8. Select “Schedule Recording” and press enter
9. Your newly scheduled show should now be displayed on the main TV Guide screen
10. Schedule another show by repeating steps 5-9
11. When finished, press the TV Guide button
I use L1 on my DVR so the DVR cannot select the channel to record. Therefore, I have to ensure the Satellite box is on the right channel for each recording. This is easy to do with the autotune feature.
I can record whatever I want now. Of course, I cannot watch another show during recording. -
Steps 1-6 are more easily accomplished by just pressing the TIMER REC button on the remote.
Whether or not your tuner situation allows you to watch another channel while recording, the 633 will allow you to watch something you've already recorded while making a new recording. -
Or the show you're in the process of recording through its great chase play feature.

DeepOne,
Thanks! That is much simpler. I still not have had time to really play with this. I have found the manual to be poorly done. But I'm learning and recording. -
You can download the manual in .pdf format from Pioneer's website. That can make searching for information on various functions a lot easier.
