  1. Hello Group,

Ok, I've read 10 pages of threads and didn't see my q/a posted...

I've got a music video file (mpg).....
It runs fine in many players...
But when I rip the audio out to listen to it, the audio stops before completing the song.

    AVI Codec says:
    Video : 39 MB, 1150 Kbps, 25.0 fps, 352*288 (4:3), MPG1 = MPEG 1 (VCD), Supported

    Audio : 7.66 MB, 224 Kbps, 44100 Hz, 2 channels, 0x51 = Mpeg-1 audio Layer 2 [0xc0], Supported

    Thoughts? A fix idea?

    Thanks,
    Barry

corruption in the file ? Playback has error correction that lets it skip over minor glitches and recover. Ripping sees the file as data only and is a lot less tolerent

How did you extract the audio from the MPG file? VirtualDub?

How long does the music video last? 4 min 40 sec?
How long does the audio last after extraction?

  4. Extracted with AOA's DVD Ripper....
Fyi, I've used it often with no problems!!!

The video and the ripped audio are both 4:19 long...

    Hmmmmm?

    Thanks....

Did you pay for AoA DVD Ripper? In my opinion, there are better DVD rippers out there and they are free! Take a look at DVD Decrypter or DVD Fab Decrypter, for example.

I would use DVD Decrypter in IFO mode to extract the chapter corresponding to the music video you want. That would create a VOB file that I would load into VirtualDub-MPEG2 (another free program) to extract the audio. That's exactly the way I do it all the time.

    I believe you, newshoes.

While you're waiting or other suggestions, maybe you could just try my method to see if it works. It won't cost you a dime and if it does work then it will tell you that either there is something wrong with your program or maybe it's just a matter of wrong settings in your program?

I'm just trying to help you.

  8. Gildas, I understand that you're trying to help but switching software isn't the problem. I don't need two programs when AoA works great and fast in a minimum of clicks.

Btw, I used AoA as the prime method because that is what I use most often. I tried two other rippers/extractors and get the same results.

So I'm looking for a fix not a new method

Fyi, I do have both items you mentioned...

    Thanks...

    Ok, no problem.

Since you have already tried other programs that gave you the same results then it must be what guns1inger said.

Sorry I can't help you more, I have no idea.

Guessing, think I remember an app or two that would attempt repair on your type of audio track -- googling gives enough hits to make me think that might be a possible route.

Otherwise I've used graphedit to convert a bad audio file from whatever format to wav for re-encode.

  11. Good News..
I was reading another thread about files being out of sync and decided to give that suggestion a try to what might happen and it worked...

It suggested Mpeg Video Wizard (which I have). So I ran 'that' file thru their "DeMultiplexer" and it fixed it perfectly!!!

I had a couple other files just were just out of sync and three or so clicks later those were working perfectly again too!!!

Along with handling this problem, Mpeg Video Wizard IMO is the easiest video editor around and I've tried most of them!!!

    Thanks....
