  1. I can't my Denon DVD1000 to recognize CD-R VCDs and SVCDs...

The player plays DVDs and commercial VCDs great, but when I try to play a VCD I have burned (from home video), it indicates "CD" and will not play the VCD.

I am making the VCDs as follows:

    1) Capture video from DV camcorder (SONY) using Studio 7
    2) Convert edited video to avi (Studio7)
    3) Covert to MPEG1 (VCD) or MPEG2 using Nero 5.5
    4) Burn using Nero (based on instructions on this site)

Resulting VCD can be played on PC using Power DVD, but is not recognized by the Denon...

from comments on the DVD1000, others seemed to have had success here...must be doing something wrong...

    PC setup

    AMD Athlon 1.2 ghz
    256 Ram
    LG CD-R/W
    60 gig (IBM) hd

    suggestions..help??

  2. Hello anilao_dvr

I have a DVD1000, and I can tell you that this machine is definately capable of playing VCDs and SVCDs made at home, on CD-Rs. I haven't had much success using CD-RWs though.

You should be aware that sometimes, it takes the player a bit of time to recognize the disk as a VCD or SVCD once you put it in, sometimes 30-40 seconds before it will play.

I've used Easy CD creator 5, Nero, and others to make VCDs/SVCDs with no problems. Perhaps you have a setting wrong, or your machine doesn't like that brand of disk. I use Memorex 700mb/80 minutes all the time with no problems.

This machine will play both PAL or NTSC disks if you have it set to in the setup menu. Perhaps that may be the problem if you've burned one format, and the machine is looking for the other.

    good luck
    Brent
