xvid to mpg issue in tmpengc

Hello all. I hope someone can help me. here is the issue.

I have an xvid avi file that i want to get to mpg. When i load it into tmpgenc the file is 3 times as big. I have read that i need to give a higher priority to the directshow filter. No problem, did that and it corrects the file length.

When i change that priority the setting goes from film to video and the end result is that the mpg is very jittery.

As i said the file is a xvid avi 23fps. I have tries reversing the field order and also selecting do not change fps.

What is the problem? It is driving me crazy!!!
