Not sure if this is the right forum but coulnt quite fit this in another category sorry!

Im using Nero Vision to convert a number of avi file onto a dvd

Since i upgraded to nero 7 the resultant dvd goes further and futher out of sync as the video progresses, the source files however do not share this problem

I was wandering if this is a sourcefile or codec problem? Iv tried burning as slowly as possible, and the computer is running a athlon 3500 with a gig of ram so its not a system resource problem.

some one mentioned it could be a problem buried deep in the source file and that i should re-encode using divx converter before trying again
does this seem like a sensible option?

it is a two part problem. Major culprit is the audio - VBR MP3. The second problem is Nero - not the best encoder.

If you search for audio sync or VBR MP3 you will find your answers

You could also try using TMPGEnc to separate the audio and video. It will convert both the audio and video into DVD format as it does this if you set it up to do so. Then you just re-multiplex and then author the disc using you're newly created mpg file. I'm at work right now, and my computer is busy at home going through this process with a bunch of xvid files.

Drop the AVI into VirtualDub. If it's VBR you will know immediately.

And for conversion to DVD try the freeware version of DivxToDVD if you want a quick and easy method. But as superpotts mentioned, if you want more control and quality, TMPGEnc is a better choice. But you still have to fix the VBR as TMPGEnc or DivxToDVD will choke on it

I fixed it! it was indeed the audio Track i checked in VDUB first, however having not used vdub in a while (by a while i mean since the days of making VCDS) iv become ever more lazy after getting a dvd burner

So i thought id try the ease of DIVX converter on the files, it worked brillaintly reencoding the Audio Tracks also, and is now perfectly in sync when burnt with nero vison

    Thanks Guys!!
