Does anyone know of a site, forum, or any other place I can go to find a list of all the DVD players that can be made to play multiple regions?

I used to live in the UK and have a large collection of Region 2 DVD's. Now that I am back in the US, I need to get a DVD player that I can get to play both my Region 1 and Region 2 DVD's. I dont care if I have to BIOS flash it, enter a special remote control code, etc, as long as it can be made to play it with relative ease...i.e...no swapping of chips on the circuit board.

    Thanks,
    Brian

I don't know of a master list, but you can do a Google search for 'region free DVD players' and get some companies that sell modified players that will do what you want. Check their warranties and the companies reputation before you purchase.

One company is http://www.world-import.com/dvd.htm . There are others, and I am not recommending any company specifically. The modified players are sometimes a better deal if you don't want to try to modify the player yourself and you want to keep a warranty in place.

Thank you. I will check do some more googling to see what I can turn up. I am actually not too concerned about warranty as I typically buy DVD players around the $50-$75 range. I am considering the 642 mentioned in an earlier thread. I am just confirming it will also be able to output DTS. If so, I will probably pick it up from a local Best Buy.

Thank you very much for your help.

btrotter - I have the DVP-642 and it most definitely supports DTS, but only in pass through mode. There is no DTS decoder, so you will need a receiver capable of decoding the raw DTS stream it can output. My DVP-642 has worked like a champ for me for almost a year and a half, but some have complained of problems with this model.

Excellent. My Yamaha receiver decodes DTS, so this DVD player would work.
Looks like I just found my next DVD player.

    Thank you!!
