  1. Hello, all. I'm looking for a program that integrates with the Windows interface where when you hover over a video file it displays extended information such as encoding, bitrate, resolution, compression, etc, similar to what the program dbPowerAMP does for audio files, for those familar.

I'm sure there are programs that will tell me all of this when I open the file in them, but I'm looking for one that will show me this type of info when I simply mouse over the file in an explorer window.

    Thanks!

Mousing over will give you some basics such as duration, audio bitrate, dimensions, and file size. You can right click on the file, choose properties, then the summary tab and you can get the extended information from that (audio and video codecs, frame rate, data rate, video sample size).

But yeah, a simple mouse-over that gives the extended information would definately be nice, but I don't know of one.

There are several. I need to do a search, but I know for a fact there are a number of them.

    Found one

  4. Thanks for the suggestion. Not quite what I'm looking for, though (unless I'm missing something in the program). It gives you a right-click option to open the file, but I'm looking for a mouseover that gives you extended information. [/img]

There are no video software for this as far as I know.

I am working on a "mouseover" extension for MediaInfo, I hope to release it in few weeks, so keep the mediainfo adress in mind

AVIcodec will give you a right-click option in the context menu of "AVIcodec: detailed information"

This freeware app does pretty well for me -- it installs into the context menu near the top, and has a small info window that pops up.
It's quite quick, and you could use it for now...
