I am having a problem joining 2 avi files with ffmpegX. The result i get each time is the 2nd avi isnt fully joined with the first part. Only a part of the 2nd avi is joined.

    - the first avi file is 1:05:42
    - the 2nd avi file is 1:02:33
    - when i used ffmpegx to join them, the result was an avi with a length of 1:40:44

i tried 3 times and was unsuccesful each time. Does anyone have any suggestions as to why its doing this?
    thanks for any help.

Try using Mpeg Streamclip to join the clips and than use ffmpegX if needed on encode. I've had the same problem in the past.

  3. Try D-Vision3 it is the one that is giving me less problems with the audio sync

Yes - I've definitely seen this as well. The resultant joined file, if played in Quicktime will cut off at about 90% of the expected duration. Curiously the file plays fine in VLC though. The mighty VLC triumphs again.

A bit of a pain as I've had to resort to using VirtualDub to join my AVIs on my rusty old PC.

A similar problem I'm having is that the audio in the second clip is slightly off (about 1/2 second) when they are joined. The audio is perfectly synced until I reach the part of the new file where the second original clip was.
