    Hello everybody!

    The multiregion crack for the "packard bell easy dvd recorder divx edition edr 2000" presented on this site does not work on my machine (region 2, bought in France).

    Any thoughts on the matter?

    Thanks in advance, as I have a large collection of region 1 dvds which has now become useless!

    gstyles.

    Chances are the hack only works with specific firmware. Sounds like in your case, the hack has been disabled. You could try flashing your firmware, older or newer depending on what is already in yours and if it is even obtainable from the manufacturer, or getting a player that is region free.

    I downloaded and installed the firmware upgrade from the PB site. The machine said "upgrade completed successfully", but now refuses to respond to any of the facia or remote buttons. It just displays the PB logo on the screen, and the light to show it is plugged in does not come on:

    HELP PLEASE!!!

    Talk to PB support and see what they have to say. I would probably leave out the reasons behind the upgrade though.

  5. the code does work in region 2 (France as well).
    The digit combination is different, though: 028602
    Hope this helps. Don't change firmware version, otherwise this may not work!

    I'm pretty sure hacked firmware are NOT covered on your warranty...so...good luck there. ^_^;

    Not saying that you don't know what you are doing, but do LOTS of research before messing with any firmware cause stuff like this often happens. I've done similar screw-ups with hacked BIOS for various computers back when I used to overclock. Luckily there are sites that sell BIOS chips that can get you running again.

    Thanks for your interest in this topic, and thanks to pikkachu for the region 2 hack!

    I did not do a firmware hack: I downloaded from the official PB site, as they recommend, and followed scrupuously the installation instructions found on the same site! Do you think this invalidates the warranty?

    If its official, you should be good.

  9. it should not affect the warranty but it WILL affect the de-zoning capability: with later firmware versions you actually need to burn a bootable cd, insert it in the PB recorder, boot from it and only then get access to the hidden menu allowing the region change.
