This is slightly off topic, but can anyone tell me why AV from my sat receiver to my Toshiba 14" TV produces video signal that is quite dim, with too much contrast. If I run the Sat signal through my VCR or DVR and out to the TV (all using AV cables), then the signal is much brighter. I also tried an SVideo cable from the sat to TV and it has the same dim picture.
So it looks like the sat AV signal needs to be amplified before sending it to the TV. My questions is, why isn't the TV amplifying it? Or is the problem with the sat receiver?
TIA
Brent

Still waiting for a reply.
Is the problem with my Toshiba TV? Or is the AV/SVideo output from the sat receiver too low power?
TIA

Look at setup menu for the sat receiver and see if they have output level settings.
One possibility for dark video is the box is set for euro 0 IRE black where N. America uses 7.5 IRE black.
