  1. Hello, this may not be possible but I am going to give it a shot.
    I have encountered 4 (out of 50) bad Ritek 2.4x DVD+RW.
For some odd reason I am able to burn DVD-VIDEO on them,
the full 4.5GB without a hitch with Nero or DVD Decrypter,
but at a certain point (about 1 GB) the disc would stutter and
hang on my standalones (Panasonic and Sony DVD players)
when I play them. Also test of the discs with Nero CD/DVD speed
indicate damage and bad sectors (about 100-200MB).

Now I decided to use them as data discs instead and tried INCD,
hoping that it would block out the bad sectors. After I formatted
them with INCD (w/ verify) I thought everything would be fine and
that this INCD software put some info about the error sectors so that
data would not be written to that part of the DVD+RW disc. I then
proceeded to write about 4.2 GB of data in the INCD formatted disc.

I thought everything was fine, until I tried to read and copy the data
from my other 2 computers and it would stop with an error at some
    point.

Is there a better software than INCD that would enable me to reuse
this bad media. I appreciate any response. Thanks.

You could block out the bad sectors by writing a bunch of files to the disk to fill it up, then try to read them all back. When you find the bad files, rename them to indicate that they're bookmarks for the bad spots, then delete all the other files. Now you can use INCD to write to the good spots on the disk because the bad spots will be taken.

But why bother? You can get a box of 25 4X +RWs for less than $20 at Newegg. A box of 25 8X +RW is less than $30 at shop4tech.

I think a disk that already has bad sectors is probably more likely to develop more bad sectors. Is the data you're backing up isn't worth $1 for a good disk then is it really worth the time and trouble to back it up at all?
