  1. Hi, everybody, i wanted to know if there is a way for me to change the file associations with Adobe Audition 1.5. I mean, during instalation, i wrongly marked all files to be associated with Adobe Audition 1.5. Now, every time i want to hear a file it opens Adobe Audition 1.5 and not Windows Media Player. By the way, i tried to remove Adobe Audition 1.5 and reinstall, but i just can't. In the "Add/Remove" section there is no "unistall" option. The program itself doesn't have it.

A little help would be appreciated,

    I hate file association hijacking.

    Open Windows Explorer
Go to "Tools" "Folder options" "File types" and try to repair the damage.

Right, another way is right click->Open With->"Choose Program" and tie to the application.

    Right click->Open With->"Choose Program"

Check "always use the selected program to open this kind of file"

    and then select the program.

I still consider it hijacking, and I hate it too.

Companies like this know that avi and wav (etc.) already come with default associations before their programs ever get loaded.
They could just as easily create a shortcut (rightclick) menu (like WinZip and other archivers do) that has "EDIT with Adobe Audition" or some such.

Plus, they should ALWAYS have some method with which to easily revert to original associations. And they don't. AAARRRGH!

  11. Thanks, guys, for your help. Still, i wanted to uninstall Adobe Audition 1.5 and reinstall it, but i just can't. In the "Add/Remove" section there is no "unistall" option, only the "Change" option. The program itself doesn't have it.
How can i do it ?

    Thanks,

Go to windows explorer , choose tools , then folder option's .
    Now click tab "file type's"

Look for the icon , and extension , like mv1 (mpeg) .

Have a look at txt , it has an open , and edit setup .

You can modify each extension in similar method , but you must know which application the particular file and format open's with ... choose wrong one , and system will complain or nothing happen's .

If in doubt , remove the extension ... next time you open it , you will be asked , and can then reassociate it with a particular program .

That should remove this other problem user's seem to be having with hijacked association's .

My txt has 8 different associated program's depending if it is a script or plain text .

Some program's also allow the "changing of associated file type's" in there setting's such as zipgenious ... it's the first thing to check before changing file type association's within window's explorer .
