  1. I am looking for a software that allows you to take clips/scenes from already existing DVDs (whether they be homemade ones, or store bought ones) and recompile them onto your own DVD... almost like something that would allow me to make a mix tape of sorts, but with video clips from other DVDs. If there exists a software that does this IN ADDITION to allowing me to edit the clips that would also be awesome, but not necessary. Thanks in advance.

    Hi TheRybot,

Firstly, you'll need to rip the DVDs to your hard drive: DVDDecrypter, DVDFab Decrypter and other similar ripping tools.

Compiling them would be done in an authoring tool that accepts VOBs and allows you to set start and end points so you can get the clips you want: TMPGEnc DVD Author, DVDRemake (and Pro), GUI For DVDauthor (free) and similar.

To edit the clips, something like VideoReDo or MPEG Video Wizard or MPEG Video Wizard DVD will do that - but you might need to demultiplex (also known as "demux", or split) the MPG files from out of the VOB container file. PgcDemux does this, there are others.

    Good luck...

  3. Thank you. GUI For DVDauthor says I need something called "SmartSound Quicktracks Plugin.msi" and I can't find it. Where do I get this?

    No problem.

Report back how it works out - the missing plug-in and your project in general.

It's always good for others to read these threads and to see how it turns out - so they can judge if it's a solution for them

This is not (S)VCD Authoring. What you are asking is more 'Editing'. Moving you. Fallow daamon's advice.
