I am not sure if it is the media or my player, but I burned a VIDEO_TS file to a DVD using isoimg (i think) and nero. What happens is the movie starts to skip and then eventually freezes. I want to say it is a media problem, but I do not have this problem with any other movies I have. So I am stumped. I do not think its from the source material, or anything.

Anyways I will take any suggestions on what the problem could be because I have wasted enough DVD's on this dam movie.

I am using DVD-R's not + so that might be it, but like I said my other ones work fine.

    Thanks for any help

What are you using to convert it to DVD-5, Shrink? It doesn't sound like a encryption problem.

Media is still the main suspect. Why that particular video, I don't know. Is it longer than average? Lots of high motion scenes? Or just a lousy original DVD encode?

What media are you using? Do you know the media code for it? Have your tried to play it in other standalone players?

But first thing, try a different media brand. You can check your media, burner and player to the left for user comments. You might find recommended media for them, or some other useful info. <<<<<<

  3. You could also compress the movie a little more which will free up more space on the disc. Then your problems might be avoided.

Well, I didnt convert it. I got it off my buddys computer and he probably got it of some torrent. It looks like a straight rip and I tried it on my computer and while I didnt go through the whole thing, it did not freeze or pause at all. So it could be my player. One thing I noticed is that if i skip scenes it will play fine for awhile then freezes again. Dunno if this helps.

I am using Memorex for my media and a pioneer burner. I have noticed that the player says it only plays DVD+R ,but I usually play DVD-R on it just fine. Although this is the 1st time I tried to play a a straight copy of a DVD and not a divx rip. So that might be it as well.

It's sounding more like a corrupted file. That's not unusual when you get videos from questionable sources. Computer software players can ignore some errors that will choke a standalone. If you get stuff 'off the net' then you shouldn't be surprised at the quality.

I would give up on the file.
