  1. I'm using premier pro 1.5 and would like to, occaisionally, capture video where it shows the date/time stamp right on the video. Basically exactly how it looks when you see "home" video in a movie.

is this possible? and if so how?

You could try the Enosoft Enhanced DV Decoder that just came out. It is supposed to work with Premiere's capture.

Another one that comes to mind is Captureflux.

    Hi The Linguist,

As well as Safesurfer's suggestion, also look into a number of tools in the "DV" category, such as:

    DV Sub Maker
    DVdate
DVE Dv date (plugin for Premiere)
    DV_Datecode
    Visual DV Time Stamp

    There may be others...

  5. There is no way to buy this plugin wiht paypal and I looked at the other options above as well as googling but nothing is as easy as the above plugin. Wish I had a credit card but I don't and an international bank transfer is out of the question as it is too expensive.

I really don't understand why date/time stamp is not a standard feature in video editing software.

Can anyone offer any other suggestions or solutions. thanks for your help so far, hoping to find the perfect solution soon.

I would check out the manual for your DV camera. My Panasonic DV camera (now a few years old) has the option to playback with the date stamp visible on the LCD, but not on the firewire output, or to have it sent down the wire as part of the output. This has the added advantage of being there even if you need to edit the footage. If you use the sub approach, you have to make sure you edit the subs as well or they wont match the footage.

If the time isn't as important, and only the date matters, you are better off doing it as a text overlay in your editor instead.

Do you know anyone with a credit card that can pay for it, you download it, and you give them the cash?

Failing that, review the other options and you might have to settle for your second choice.
