    Easily fixed. Added the comctl32 activeX component to the installer. Also packaged with this version is the sourcecode. (which I finally found)

  2. Hi there!
    New release - first BETA.

    Please note... this is the FIRST BETA - USE IT CAREFULLY and please use empty folders for tests (just in case, I tried to add warnings every time something is going to be deleted but...)

    here's the change log:
    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ++++++++++

    01 MAR. 2006 Alpha2

    -Changed the ridiculous violet (on CRT monitors) colors. It's a little grey now, that means I'll change it again, later

    -Fixed several annoying and stupid bugs found by several testers - my thanks to Archeo and Feedback from doom9 forum and Daamon, Dipstick, Guns1inger and Compuser from VideoHelp forum.

    -Added the possibility to change the Start and End cut points of the previously selected segments;

    -Added the "Save Project" and "Load Project" feature.

    14 MAR. 2006 v0.1.0 Beta

    -Updated the "Up" and "Down" segments move. Now the selected segment keeps 'highlighted' - my thank goes to communist (doom9 forum) for remembering me about this;

    -Added support to "Video(only)Streams" - .m2v and .mpv

    -Fixed a bug that related to target frame size on the import dialog - if a target size was chosen before selecting a file you would get an error and program would close;

    -When saving a Project, SynthEditor will check if the selected folder contains files... if it does a warning will be shown telling user that those files will be erased - user can choose to continue or not... sorry about your files niiyan (doom9's forum)

    -When closing the program will be asked if user wants to erase all the temporary files;

    -Corrected a few bugs on the "Save Project" feature;

    -Corrected the display of Frame Sizes on some AVI files (Uncompressed and DV) using AvInfo - all the other data is still collected with MediaInfo.exe;

    -Added a routine that is supposed to detect frame type (progressive/interlaced) and Field Order, from mpeg files, using DGIndex and an AutoIt script;

    -Added the encoding Feature for MPEG Files (ONLY!!!) - on this release you'll be able to encode video using HC Encoder and QuEnc will be used to encode the audio.
    Please note: The Encoding feature will work (at this point) with MPEG files ONLY!!! and you can only use HC to encode the Video and QuEnc to encode the Audio.

    I'm releasing it as it is so you can test the final sizes accuracy, I'll be adding new Encoders (QuEnc for video, CCE - this one is the pain due versions differences and maybe other by request).

    Please... be patient... my free time ain't much so I only had time to test it on the same system(computer) I use to program... that means that everything may be just fine here but it may not even start on your computer

    Any doubts... just ask, ok?

    Thank you all in advance.

    You can get it here: http://homepage.oniduo.pt/ROCKAS/

  3. Oh! ... by the way... the RAR file is 2.55MB 'cause I've included all the needed tools (HC Encoder, QuEnc, DGIndex, etc) except for AviSynth - remember that it is needed ... On future releases I'll release an "update only" package.

    Yeah, too right. Pop that in your pipe and smoke it, Scotty boy!!!

    It makes a change to work on some freeware that actually gets put out to the public, not just having one's efforts appreciated... Come on jimmalenko, take the bait and get "ABC" sorted and released.

    "What's ABC?" I hear all the users of VH cry... I'm saying nothing, suffice to say that it's a rocking little utility that's better than only one thing (that I know of) that's out there for batch encoding audio files. All questions, queries, and requests for the final software to jimmalenko

    Think ffmpeggui but with the ability to batch process, as well as save default or "favorite" settings and of course save / load batches. Items in the batch can all have the same settings or all have different settings.
    If in doubt, Google it.

    input is anything ffmpeg can accept as input .... which is pretty much most formats AFAIK. AC3, WAV, MP2 and MP3 are definitely supported.
    Output is MP2 or AC3.
    If in doubt, Google it.

    Not at all. In fact - far from it. There were a few things initially, but it go to the point where it was usable but with some obvious, if not too annoying, bugs.

    I'm a professional software tester, so gave the software a hard time and fed back everything - including some suggestions for improvements. I'd say address a few points and it'd be good to go - it's close to getting over the line in the state I last saw.

    I also have a vain motivation - I came up with the name and some blurb...

    "Audio Batch Converter (or "ABC") is a utility inspired by the very popular ffmpeggui, and still uses ffmpeg at its core. This tool takes ffmpeggui one step further by providing a GUI with functionality that enables the user to do batch encoding from[list formats here] to both AC3 and MP2 (still only 2 channel for both).

    The user can still do single file encoding, but also:

    * Add more than one file to a batch-list for batch encoding.
    * Each file can have it's own parameters (i.e. one file can be MP3 to AC3 @ 192kbps and 48,000Hz, whilst another can be WAV to MP2 @ 128kbps and 44,100Hz).
    * Batches can be saved and reloaded.
    * Set default input, output and batch directories.
    * Set default settings for format (AC3 / MP2), sample rate (44,100 or 48,000 Hz) and bitrate.
    * Edit the current batch list.

    Using the tool is simple:

    A. Load your source file(s).
    B. Choose your encoding parameters.
    C. Encode your file(s).

    It's as easy as "ABC"..."

  28. New Release

    24 MAR. 2006 v0.1.1 Beta

    -Fixed a bug on the "Encode Video Only" routine (the bitrate could be badly calculated)

    -Added video Encoding using QuEnc;

    -Now the selected Encoder will be saved along with the "project file"

    -Added a "Target Format" option -- this is important. Make your choice based in what you will be doing with the final file. If you choose "Generic MPEG" the BitRate will be calculated to fit the exact final target size. If you choose "DVD" the BitRate will be smaller to make room for DVD packetizing and NAVPACK overhead. This option will be saved on the project file.

    -Now when Frame Type is detected/selected as "Progressive" Field Order is disabled/ignored.

    -AvInfo no longer needed... I was using AvInfo to deal with DV and Uncompressed AVI files' Frame sizes... I coded internal routines to deal with those kind of streams.

    -MediaInfo.exe no longer needed... now SynthEditor works with a mediainfo.dll included on the package.

    -Added a "Force Aspect Ratio" option on the Import Dialog

    -Added a "channel mapping" routine when dealing with 5.1AC3 files - thanks for the tip dragongodz and tebasuna51 (doom9 forum)

    -You can now use AVI files with wav audio format... please note... WAV audio... I'm working on mp3 yet

    -Added a AmplifyDB(9) on the Audio script to compensate QuEnc's "loss on audio level" encode... my thanks to Ebobtron for remembering of it

    -Corrected the MaxBitrate parameter... now SynthEditor will subtract the Audio Bitrate to the MaxBitrate.

    -Fixed a few more minor bugs

    you can get it at http://homepage.oniduo.pt/ROCKAS/

  29. I'm still getting a warning from McAfee that the "DeleteFolder" method is being called, only now it occurs after I select a video file.
    I went ahead and allowed the script to run, and it doesn't seem to have caused any negative effect so I tried a test. It worked OK and is a good start, but you need to include all of the QuEnc options when configuring to encode. It did not use the settings I would have selected. I would like to be able to review the command line that is being used to initiate QuEnc to make sure it is addressing all of the settings because any settings not specifically addressed in the command line are taken from the last time QuEnc was used manually, which may not be appropriate to the current project.

  30. Let's go step by step
    The "delete folder script" doesn't harm anything on your system... it is applied on the SynthEditor's "temp" folder... that's all... I just made it that way 'cause when you save a project, SE will copy the files from the temp to the chosen folder... so I want to make sure that will be no unneeded files in it.... anyway... I think MCAfee must review their detection methods... If a folder is created by an app inside its installation folder what harm can it make if that folder is cleared up? ... I think that MCAfee is the only one sending the warning

    You can find QuEnc Options on the Setup dialog under menu options... and no... QuEnc will not be using your last settings... it will be using the options on the setup menu - I know... it misses the Matrices stuff, but I was hoping to enable it later 'cause I will include a Matrix Editor (from my Rebuilder's Matrix Editor app) so you can use it to import and use all the custom matrices you want.

    Thanks for your tests.
