  1. These are the steps I took:

    Started DVD Decrypter.

    Went to Mode.

Selected IFO from the drop-down menu.

    Tools >> Settings

In the settings window, I clicked on the IFO tab and made sure STREAM INFORMATION was checked (by default, it was).

I checked "Include PGC Number" and "Include Angle Number" and then clicked OK.

With DVD Decrypter set to rip, I inserted the DVD into the player. DVD Decrypter automatically selected the longest PGC (Program Chain) which is usually the main movie.

At that point, I chose the destination folder and hit the green arrow to begin decrypting.

    This is what I got:

    VTS_01_0.IFO

    VTS_01_PSC_01 - Stream Information.txt

    VTS_01_PGC_01_1.VOB
    VTS_01_PGC_01_2.VOB
    VTS_01_PGC_01_3.VOB
    VTS_01_PGC_01_4.VOB
    VTS_01_PGC_01_5.VOB
    VTS_01_PGC_01_6.VOB

I was expecting one file, instead I got several. Can anyone tell me what I did wrong? My ultimate goal is to end up with a single .vob file that I can convert to .avi and chop into scenes in Premiere.

    Thanks!!!

    EDIT:

It just dawned on me that I left out some very valid information.

I'm using a guide called, "AUTO GORDIAN KNOT ILLUSTRATED GUIDE for dummies: DVD to AVI."

Could be that at this point, I aim AutoGK at the source folder and IT put all the pieces back together when it encodes to avi..... I don't know, I've never done this before. If that turns out to be the case, I'll post b/c I'm following this guide to the tee.

    Thanks!!!

I'm not sure what you are doing, but if I want one large VOB, I use File Mode and in 'Settings'>'Options' I set 'File Splitting' to 'None'.

I see you can do the same in IFO Mode, though I've haven't tried that. It's normally set a 1GB.

  4. Using the steps above, just point AUTOGK to the IFO file and it will "grab" the corresponding VOB files.

Thanks!!! I'll let you know about the resulting AVI.

DVD Decrypter IS SUPPOSED TO GENERATE MULTIPLE FILES. It's taking your content on the DVD EXACTLY AS IS, except decrypted.

If you want AVI, use AutoGK.

Well, depending on what you want to do.
You can use DVD Decrypter any way you choose.
You can use it to get one large file, split it into several seperate files, to get just the video (M2V) just the ac3 audio track, just the DTS audio track, ect. ect. ect.

So i would not really say "IS SUPPOSED TO GENERATE MULTIPLE FILES"
depends on what you want to do 8)

Okay, how about this... Without setting any options, by default it IS supposed to generate multiple file. How's that?

  8. Here are the steps I took to achieve what I wanted:

    Step 1
Place the DVD you want to rip your video from into your DVD drive.

    Step 2
    Launch DVD Decrypter.

    Step 3
Go to the Mode menu and select IFO I mode. This will give you access to two new tabs; Input & Stream Processing.

    Step 4
Go to the Tools menu, select Settings, go to the IFO tab, then under Options, change File Splitting to None and press OK.

    Step 5
Go to the main screen and click the Stream Processing tab. Enable it and only select the first video listed. Note that home encoded movies do not support subtitles of any kind and that your file can only have one type of audio.

    Step 6
Before you begin ripping your video, note the destination of the video file. This is where your raw DVD rip is going to go and it will be rather large in size. If you want to change the directory that DVD Decrypter will output to, click on the Browse button and navigate to the folder you want and press OK.

Now that you know where the movie file is going, click on the Decrypt button to start decrypting the DVD to your hard drive.
Once it is done, close DVD Decrypter. Expect a 4 GB to 6 GB movie to take about 12 to 18 minutes.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    The results:

    (1) VTS_01_PGC_01_0.IFO file 118 KB in size

    (1) VTS_01_PGC_01_1.VOB file 5,546,046 KB in size

    and (1) VTS_01_PGC_01 - Stream Information.txt 118 KB in Size

    Opened VTS_01_PGC_01_1.VOB in DGIndex

    It spit out two files:

    NewOrleans.d2v
    NewOrleans T01 2_0ch 448Kbps DELAY 0ms.ac3 file

Trying to figure out how to frameserve these to VirtualDub and spit out a Huffy Lossless file to import into Adobe Premeire Pro 1.5. Thanks!!!
