I have a movie I want to convert to DVD.....the movie is split into two files and there are subtitle (.srt) files for both. FFmpegX does not give me the option to use more than one .srt file...how do i get both movie files and subtitle tracks into ONE file so i can get it all on one DVD?

  2. Convert your first .avi and include the .srt subs.

Convert your second .avi and include the .srt subs.

Use the Join option and join the 2 files .avi's that were created.

Convert as normal to DVD format...

Okay, I follow you, but what do I convert the .avi's to before joining? I can't convert them to DVD (video_ts folder) or it won't join that, will it?

  4. Just convert to avi, including subtitle. Then join them together. Then convert to dvd

  5. Just to clarify, this results in an AVI with "burned" subtitles... If you want to be able to turn subtitles on and off, this won't work.

If anyone knows of a good way to join the two AVIs and the two SRTs seperately, and then convert to DVD, I would like to know too!

    Thanks,

    Matthew

  6. Huuh... Took some time to figure it out, but here it is:

How to join several .sub or .srt files.

    - Convert your .sub files to .srt with Sub2Srt 0.9

    - Convert your .srt files to DOS SubRip format with SubCleaner 1.0b2

    - Check the play time of the first video file, multiply the minutes by 60 and add the amount of second. (I did this with VLC player Window->Information->General->Duration.)

Btw. Does anyone know how to see the play time in milliseconds?

    - Install SubAZ 1.0. Do command line: subaz videofile.srt x (where x is the play time of the first video file in seconds as was just calculated.)

    - Open the .srt files in your favorite text editor. Copy/paste the contents of the second .srt file in the end of the first .srt file. Making sure there is one space between the two texts, ofcourse.

    - Fix the saved .srt file with SubCleaner 1.0b2.

I was puzzling over how to join two srt files too; I simply used Time Adjuster (https://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=Time_Adjuster) which works great. It has a join option, where it adjusts the time of the second file and the line numbers too.

There are 3 kinds of people: those who can count & those who can't.

Wow! I've been looking for a tool like this for ages (for Mac OS X). Thanks for pointing this one out. I only wish it was listed on VideoHelp under Tools.

I've recently discovered D-Vision 3, from www.objectifmac.com, for joining avi files. It joined two large avi's for me into a single 1.34GB file in a very short time. It probably does much more, but the manual's in French, and my schooling 40 years ago didn't extend to such technical subjects that wouldn't have existed then anyway.
