  1. Would a DVD player be able to automatically go to the first title when I insert disc in, and would it move to next title when the first title is finished playing? I want to keep things really simple.

Honest answer - I don't know for sure.

It depends how it's authored - to be safe, I'd do it in something like DVDLab so you can set up the links from one title to the next.

Or you can author as normal and use something like DVDRemake (perhaps PGCEdit or ifoedit too) to set up your links.

Hope that helps some... Good luck.

When you author a DVD, you have the option of setting how you want the disc to play tiitles. You don't need to have a menu. You can set it to start playing as soon as the disc is inserted and play thru all the titles without stopping or however you want to do it. You can even set it to repeat playing the disc over and over again until you press stop, if that be your desire.

I know you can do all this with TMPGEnc DVD Author, and probably others as well.

  4. If you add titles in one title set then you will be able to advance to them by pressing next button on the remote. Otherwise on most players you will have to wait while one title ends to see other without menu. Of course you can insert chapter right before end of title - that would cure the problem.

The menu surely is not mandatory. You can also switch sound and subtitles with remote - no menu required!
    Cann't tell it's possible don't tell anything.

My player automatically plays first title, then stops. Following titles has to be selected with the remote.

It's an authoring issue. If authored to play one after the other, it will. Some players *might* play sequentially regardless, but it authored to do so, all of them will.

True. My multi title, no menu try was with TDA, which (afaik) doesn't have such a feature. With DVD-Lab it's easy to string the titles together. (And even loop back if need be.)

With TDA, just put all the titles on the same track. In TDA's structure, each track translates to a different VTS. It doesn't seem to cross VTS's, but it does run all titles in the same titleset sequentially. This is why you can link to halves of a movie together in TDA fairly easily. It even drops chapter points at the end of each title in the set to make navigation easier.

...but I was under the impression that this did merge the source files as one title? Could be wrong, tho...

  11. If you do not need menu why bother if they are merged. Isn't it enough they can be played and selected?
