Looking for peoples opinions on Portable GPS systems (for cars) that they have actually used, not just what they've heard.....

I've got the Garmin iQue M5 for a couple weeks now. It's not that bad. The only problem I found is that it took quite a few minutes to acquire the satellite signal when you first turn it on. It also double as a pocket PC which I found very useful. I've also use it as a MP3 player most of the time. The only draw back on this system is that you have to buy additional SD memory card if you want to have detail maps for you GPS!

  3. I have the Tom Tom software and components for my HP Ipaq PDA. Nice big screen and faultless signal directions, but to go down the route of getting a GPS system for a PDA, I found was a bit expensive; the software and the receiver were about £150 and the dashboard attachment was a further £50. I could have got an all in one for much cheaper than that, but they have (as far as I have seen) got much smaller screens and not many have the Tom Tom software.

From Tom Tom however, up-to-date maps can be downloaded from time to time but they do charge.
