Hi, i'm trying to make a complication of a t.v show on a dvd. I used DVD-Lab Pro to author the dvd and made sure the video files were in the right format so my dvd player could play them. The problem is when I try to play the dvd in my player, it doesn't recognize it. I tried DVD + and -. So, i'm wondering if theres a problem with my dvd player or is the dvd's not being authored correctly. Sometimes the dvd's that I burn work and sometimes not.

    There are some important questions.

    What format is the video?

What program if any have you used for conversion to the proper format?

What brand of disk are you using?

The format of the video is SVCD 480x480 NTSC. I used MainConcepts H.264's encoder to convert the video from xivd to svcd and I tried using Fujifilms DVD + R and - R. The dvd player model number is Samsung Progressive Scan Dvd-v3500.

Well that could be one problem. SVCD 480x480 is not a normal DVD Standard. Doesn't mean it WON'T Work but maybe you should try something else?

Some players will support SVCD but many do not. Check your owner's manual for the player. If it supports SVCD, the manual will explicitly say so. If it isn't mentioned, you can be sure that the player doesn't support SVCD.

Also, some will support SVCD when presented as an SVCD, but won't play it when presented as an out of spec DVD

Ok, thanks for the help. I'll try re-encoding it as DVD format instead of svcd and see of it works then.

As the resolution is 480 x 480, consider half-D1 resolution.
