Problems Joining Avi's with Virtualdub!

I cut a an Avi into 4 pieces. Then Put it back together by doing the following
Video>Direct Stream Copy
Audio>Direct Stream Copy
File> Open Video File for piece 1
Then File> Append Avi Segment for pieces 2,3, and 4
Then File> Save as AVi

My Problem is that it works fine except when I Play the resulting AVI I see that after clip 4.
Clip 3 and Clip 4 are repeated again. In other words the clips were joined this way. 1234344. So clips 3 and 4 were added 3 more times at the end! Help! I'm using Virtualdub 1.6.1.1

Guess would be that the files are already appended because the checkbox: "Automatically load linked segments" is checked. Then you add them again.
