i have mkv file,anime.my problem is when convert them to mpeg or vob, the subs are gone. what should i do to retain the sub?

Well it sounds like your aim is DVD video, so I would suggest that you demux the subs using mkvextract, then convert to something that your DVD authoring app can handel, author and then burn.
