  1. I know there can be quality loss depending on the encoder used when converting AVI to MPEG2 or MPG but what about if i already have an MPG file and i want to convert it to .VOB? I am using DIVX to DVD, i guess when i'm done i'll see if there is quality loss but i do so many different things i can't remember half the time, i just don't want to be using the wrong program to do a simple task such as converting to .VOB w/o quality loss.

If your mpeg is already DVD compliant then you're using the wrong program. Check the resolution with Gspot, you may be able to just author it to DVD using something like TDA. TDA will give you an error if it's not ready for DVD.

  3. Yes your right i guess i didn't try to put it into an authoring program yet. I just loaded up TMPG DA and it did not give me an error so i suppose i could have just authored it. Do you have any idea how long it would take to author it with TDA compared to what i'm using now? Divx to DVD is taking about 1 hour, its not done yet and i'll check the quality compared to the original MPG when done, if its any diff i'll try using TDA just to author it.

TDA is fast as it's not converting, should only take 10 minutes.

  5. Well you were right, i was in the middle of converting with divx to dvd when i decided to abort and try TDA, took about 25 min or so, it said 11 at first but i guess i was resource hogging or something. It worked out great, and was fast, thanks alot. Take it easy.

to have your TDA complete the task much much faster, you should have your source video in one hard dirve and the target in the other hard drive.

it normally takes 5~6 mins to finish the whole thing in my pc.
