I’m having trouble converting the fan film Star Trek Exeter "The Tressaurian Intersection" from Quicktime to avi or mpeg for eventual burning to a dvd to watch on my tv. So far I’ve tried using VSO Divx to DVD, TMPGEnc, Nero Vision Express and RAD Video Tools without any success

If anyone can suggest another method I would sure appreciate it, I had no problems converting their first film from MOV to DVD, but this one has been eating my lunch.

    Thanks in advance

As it is a mov , you have not listed having quicktime installed , which would help .

Check quicktime player is installed , and try encoding it via super , over in the tool's section .

You may wish to checkout http://ffdshow.sourceforge.net/tikiwiki/ , a possibilty you need this also .

I am not sure about using Avisynth, as I’ve never used it before, and would not know what script to write for it. I was able to convert it with Super – but when I went to convert the avi files to DVD using Nero, Nero said that most of the material was PAL format, which I did notice somewhere that the film rate was 25fps – but the group that did this film is based out of Austin TX

The film in question is only available as a streaming QuickTime video; the only way I got the two acts was by copying them out of my temporary Internet folder. I had no problems converting the first film that this fan production team did, but I’m of the belief that they modified the MOV file in some way to make it unable to be converted.

As this is a fan film, they do not own the IP, Paramount does, and they allow fans to produce and distribute these fan films as long as they do not charge for them

change to ntsc in super...29.97fps 720x480...or use the automode and convert to dvd mpg directly.

I would not suggest going to 720x480 as these files are 320x240. I downloaded the files (using This Guide to locate the URL) and the framerate is actually 23.976fps.

All Right, I used Super and converted the MOV to a MPEG2 at 29.97fps, Nero balked at transcoding so I ran it through VSO Divx ToDvd and then burned it to disc and it played great!!!!!

My thanks to all for taking the time to help me out on this, especially to Bjs for suggesting Super to me – what a great program – and freeware to boot!!!!

To any Star Trekers out there that are not familiar with either the fan films Star Trek New Voyages or Exeter, you got to give them a shot, especially New Voyages. They have TOS Writers D.C. Fontana and David Gerrold writing scripts for them. Walter Koenig will star in the next installment and George Takei has signed up to film in the one after that.
