  1. i'm very new to this, if i have a 150mg avi file and convert it to mpeg and then to a vcd,what is the final size of the file? how many cds would i need for say a 2 hour movie?thanks

  2. What is the time length of the avi file? Whatever time that it is,this is how long the mpeg that you convert will be. If you have an avi file that is 150MB and one that is 600MB - if the length of the clip for both is, say six minutes - then converting them to mpeg, the original file size will not matter.

    just like converting mp3's to audio - with VCD whatever file size of mpg you have doesn't matter - because the convertion program looks at the length of the clip. Thats why if you had an mpg of say 800Mb and one of 600MB - looking at them you would only be able to fit one onto a CD (650MB) - as data thats true but as a VCD its not.

    So since a 74 min CD holds 74 minutes of MPEG 1(Video-CD) for a two hour movie, you would only need 2 CD's.
