  1. I just tested the cVCD, standard VCD and standard VCD with MP3 audio.
For testing of converting I have used sample MPEG video lengt 168 frames.
As you can see with used MP3 audio, you will not get smaller MPEG, you will get
    only problems with playback it.

    cVCD/PAL/128kB audio
    Conversion Time 01:00, Size: 1 026 052

    cVCD/PAL/224kB audio
    Conversion Time 01:02, Size: 1 107 972

    VCD/PAL/224kB audio
    Conversion Time 01:04, Size: 1 210 804

    VCD/PAL/128kB MP3 audio (Lame)
    Conversion Time 01:01, Size: 1 201 508

    VCD/PAL/224kB MP3 audio (Lame)
    Conversion Time 01:01, Size: 1 220 100

  2. That only stands to reason as the only thing that affects the end file size is bitrate.

If you have a bitrate of CBR 224 kbit/s, it doesn't matter if you use MP2, MP3, or even AC3, the file size will be the same.

Of course, as VCDs only support MP2 audio, only that will work.

    Regards.
