What do you mean "here"? Is it your place of business? If so, either remind them of or create a company policy against excessive/personal printing.

If it is at your home (especially if it's your kids), tell the offenders to print a little less.

    You could also try this.

We have an application called print control which does exactly that, however it may be too expensive for home use (we have 500 users). I don't have the supplier's name with me, but can post it tomorrow if you are interested

Click Start | Printers and Faxes, right-click on your printer, select Properties, then the Advanced tab. On most printers (all my Canons and my Epson), there's an option called Available from... Set it for only when you're at home and can keep an eye on these renegades.

Unplug the printer and take the power cord with you.

An easy solution is to disable the printer when you are not around, but you would need to set them up with non-administrator accounts. Only an administrator can install a printer.

    hi,
first i am not quite sure how you go about setting this up... never had the issue you have..... but you can setup password accounts!! on your winxp...

as administrrator, and that would be password protected ..smile... you can designate what other accounts can have access to.... ie: a account to where they have to come to you to allow them to get on to use the printer!! go to your help section under accounts it will give a more better explanatiion and see if that fits what you want to do....

or look around from some little program that can maybe do the appx same thing... like a previous reply... a program i saw also that might work is "access control" found it in the tucows.com file library... but it's 40 bucks.... but it cantrol anything.... smile..,

  11. Supreme2k, thats hilarious , but i think what p_l suggested just might work and i'll look into setting up limits in accounts, i dont know why i never thought of that. thanks everyone for your replies
