Hi,
I have an avi that is 640 x 480, at 23.97 fps. I want to make it an m2v and burn a DVD. I typically have been using tmpgenc 3.0 xpress for my encoding. From the forums here, I now understand that I need to use the 3:2 pulldown for my framerate, to get it to the 29.97 NTSC standard. What should I do for the PAR?

Generally, I watch stuff on my computer, but occasionally it goes on a TV. Thus, it needs to be NTSC compliant. However, what's most important to me (after that) is to have it look the best that it can on my computer. I'd like for it to fill as much of the screen as possible, but also have it not be squished or stretched, etc. I'm just very confused as to what settings I need to use. Do I make it 740 x 480? or 704 x 480? Do I somehow change the orientation of the picture? etc. Or, perhaps there is a link or a thread I could be led to on this info? I've looked through the guides, but I wasn't able to find anything explicit about this....

Also, the video is currently progressive. Tmpgenc has to sections-- "set source" and "set output". Do I need to make it interlaced when I set the source? Or do I input it as progressive, and when I use the 3:2 pulldown in the output section it telecines it? It would seem to me that I should put in exactly what the movie already is for the "set source" section.... but I'm not quite sure.
