Sorry. Due to legalities, we cannot post or host direct links to DVDshrink.
-

it was not the direct DL link like i had, just for furture referance. -
We ask you not to hotlink direct to DVDShrink, DVDDecrypter or ANY dvd ripper tools.
You may link to ripper tools sites, but not the file directly.
Example:
http://riptoolwebsite/dvdshnk.zip

So far as I know, you can still write a book about home-made bombs, how to convert a legal firearm to full-auto, etc, etc. And distribute it. Where's the hmmm, what's the term, "legitimate purpose there"? Do you need a justification? Do you simply call it "scholarly research"?
So a mere link to a ripper is verboten?
[EDIT] Okay, I just read the link in the post above. So Macrovision made ya do it?
Blackmail, as in "We can drag you into court and make it expensive for you, even if you win".

Okay
fritzi93 made me think of something to clarify even more....
It is stated "not the file directly" which i understand, so even linking to the DL page itself is okay ?
Like this ?
http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/dvd_shrink.cfm
or just the site in general is allowed ?
I want to make darn sure so as not to bring your wrath upon us
If this is wrong delete my link as i'm sure you will
EDIT:
Okay, i guess linking directly to the DL page the way i did is okay as that is how they are linked in the "Tool's" section -
Wow ... all this is news to me. So when I type AnyDVD, DVDShrink or DVDDecrypter it still links to the appropriate pages in the tool section. If I go to these pages for these tools and click on info it takes me to their respective homepages where I then can download the tool.
Are were still allowed to talking about ripping a DVD to harddrive using any of these tools? -
As a VH mod it would be inappropriate to comment on how silly this all is, so I won't. Mainly the lists have been affected, if anything. For the few that don't know: A reason why the DVD Decrypter website & program were more effected, was that it specialized in hosting a ripper and that in 2003, Europe had enacted copyright legislation aiming to remove fair use. The U.K. author had little choice.
@ All. You can discuss copyright law but please don't post political comments.
@ Noahtuck. Sorry but I had to lock this temporarily so we could confer & confirm. As usual, members were onto the subject before we had a chance to prepare.Redwudz did exactly the right thing in the circumstances.

Okay, if this business goes no further it's not so bad. But it *IS* silly. And I'm still annoyed.

Well, theres always P2P for getting tools like DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink.

And here is another thought . . why does Macrovision care about DVDShrink anyway? When they went after DVDDeCryptor, one could understand since Lightening UK had blown Ripguard wide open almost immediately. But, as far as I can tell from posts, etc. DVDShrink cannot deal with Macrovision Ripguard polluted dvd's anyway and is not being updated at all by anyone? If that is the case, why do they even care about it? What gives Macrovision the right to charge after a software program that has nothing to do with their product offerings? -
Is Nero ReCode next? Doubtful since Ahead has the money and balls to tell them to go screw themselves.
