Hi. I'm just beginning to make some DVD authoring, ans I'm stuck with this issue.
I have both an english movie and its subtitle, in .SRT format. Since english is not my native tongue, I wished to add a selectable english subtitle to the DVD, so the movie's comprehension becomes much easier.
I read hundreda of tutorials, I learned that one could convert the .SRT to .SUP format and author the M2V, the audio stream abd the .SUP. I made it and authored the image with ReJig.
The problem is that the movie is perfect, I can select the english subtitle but nothing displays on screen.
If I try to rip the subtitle with SubRip it appears perfectly (only, it is strange because the subtitle appears blu in a black blandscape) , but I cannot make it appear in the movie.
Did I use a wron authoing application? Or what?
Please note: in SrtSup, as 'global settings' I used Background: black trasparent, Text: white, all other colors: silver.
I 'Unchecked Use Default Target' and placed the subtitle at: X1=100 (left), Y1 (top)=470. Vertical alignement: bottom, Horizontal alignement: left.
Screen format = PAL 720 x 576 (25 fps), since y system is PAL.
What did I do wrong?
Thanks...

does the authored dvd subs work on your computer with a software dvd player?
you could also author with subs using dvdauthorgui, it supports srt. or try muxman instead of rejig. -
You didn't specify the subtitle colors in ReJig (in the authoring program) in such a way to reflect the colors you choose in srt2sup. That means the definition of the color in the .ifo file is such that they are not visible (for example they can be set with all transparent colors, or may be black on black background - so you do not see them)
You can try to reauthor again specifying the right colors in rejig or you can edit the .ifo files. The edit can be done with IfoEdit (dificult in MO) or with PGCEdit (easy, because the colors are visualised) -
Perhaps https://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=DVDSubEdit would be of use?

I think you should try this-
Open the .srt file in subtitle creator. Then apply the profile of the movie( i.e. wide screen or 4:3) in the menu profile. Also choose the format of the movie i.e. PAL or NTSC. Then you can see where actually the subs are displayed. Now select show frame markares in the settings menu. This shows the actual TV frame on the screen. Noe if the subs are outside this area then they will not be displayed on your TV. Just drag the subs inside this frame area. Now again open the settings menu and select apply the changes to all subtitles. Then save this as .sup format. File- save sup as-. Now you can use this file to mux with the movie. I am sure you will be able to see them now.Milya -
Hi and thank you for designing these programs.
I have created the subtiles in for my movie and followed all your instructions, and the movie played fine when I opened it with Nero show time DVD player, but I don't have a DVD movie burner so I burned the VOB files as data, I tried playing it on my standalone DVD player the subtitles didn't apear, and also no menue was found so the movie woud play in 4 parts "chapters". please help me to get my subtitles on the TV because I tried playing with the remote to get them but there is nothing, so I am wondering is it because I didn't burn it to a DVD burner, or it is the menue needing to be created in order for me to choose the subtitles on my TV? please reply to email and sorry for the long message.
Yours
