  1. people, i have a slight problem.. i just burned a DVD9 on my DVDLab Pro writin module, and thru Nero 7. to check the DVD-Video, i got together 4 DVD players of different makes, namely -
    1) Philips,
    2) Philips again,
    3) Sony and
    4) Thomson.

Now the problem is that my DVD9 is not playing at all on the Thomson player. I am getting an error, which says defective or bad disc after some time. One of the Philips dude is not even reading it. but, the other Philips player, and even the Sony player are giving me a crisp playback. what can the problem be? Has it got anything to do except compatibility issues? pls help me out here guys!

What media did you use ?

Neither of those products are recommended for burning dual layer discs. Search the forums for many discussions on better ways to burn DL media.

DL media compatability amongst players is hit and miss depending on the age of the model.

  3. isnt Nero 7 good enough for burning DL media? otherwise which software should i use? DVDLab pro said that even CopyToDvd is god enough.. and as far as the media i was using is concerned, it was some shoddy media! thats what i wanted to ask, if it would have been a media problem, then it shouldnt have played on the other DVD players. the philips player should have shown me an error..so i am ruling out the media issue.. its the compatibility of DL with other players that i am worried about..

Verbatim MKM - anything else it currently hit and miss. I would use good media before stating it isn't the cause.

As for burning software, top of the list would be Record Now Max 7.3 (version ?), DVD Decrypter/ImgBurn. Nero would be low on the list as it creates it's own layer break, regardless of where you might have put it, and is generally considered only competent at best for single layer burning.

Compatability issues may still be the base cause, but if you use crap media then you aren't really giving the players much of an opportunity in the first place.
