  1. When I try to open up an AVI file, I get the error message "...can not open, or unsupported.". I can view the file properly (video & sound) in windows media player. Any suggestions?

    Thanks,

  2. Have you downloaded VirtualDub yet? How 'bout some divx codecs? You can find them in the tools section. When you get VirtualDub, install the handler, then open your file in VirtualDub. Under audio, you have to options: Do you care about canny noise(a high pitched squeal from some sounds in the movie) or would you like a crisp sound? If you like that metallic sound, select direct stream copy and save as a wave file. If you like a crisp, high quality sound, then you'll have to select full processing mode (under full processing mode, select frequency to 44100, high quality, 16 bit, stereo) and then save as a wave file. Then, use that wave as your audio source in TMPGEnc. That will get rid of that error message!! Also, download a good external audio encoder, such as SCMPX or TooLame, and load it in the environmental settings in TMPGEnc. Hope this helps

  4. You may want to try using DVD2AVI to create a VFAPI project file, and then use the VFAPI -> AVI Converter. It allows you to open anything in a program that otherwise wouldnt.

  5. Hi,
I did have the same problem and found the following solution:

    open option, environment setting
set AVIVFW compatibility REader on first place
and DirectShow Multimedia file REader on second place.

    My problems were solved.

    Greetings Willy
