I'm trying to burn a DVD with two .avi files into DVD so they can be played with my DVD player I also want to add chapters and a menu to the DVD. My DVD player only reads CD-RW, CD-R, DVD+RW, DVD+R, DVD-RW, DVD-R.

I open the both files with G-spot because that's the only way I know to see which codec the file is here is screenshots of the G-spot information…

I tried to brun it with Ulead DVD MovieFactory 3.5 Suite and it works but every time the progress in near done the computer shuts down and restarts, So the disk is only 90% done and work on my DVD player but the last 10% can't be shown. I also tried burning with NeroVision Express 2 but the DVD could not be read by my DVD player.

EDIT: I Uppdated G-spot and took new screenshots and now it's 3 files that i want to burn instead of 2.

I need to know what program and how to use it so I can get the DVD that I described. The Quality of the video is great and I wish not to make it less when I make the DVD.

Sorry for the broken English if someone can answer in Swedish I would appreciate it.

    Thanks in advance

If your computer shuts down and restarts like you describe, it may be overheating. You might want to pull off the side covers and blow out the dust. Or try blowing a fan in there with the cover off and see if that helps. Then you would improve the cooling.

A simple way to convert this might be a program like ConvertXToDVD. There is a freeware version available lower on that page.

Or for best quality use a standalone encoder like TMPGEnc and a authoring program like TMPGEnc DVD Author. The authoring program is where you create chapters and menus.

And I would update your version of Gspot. The latest version is 2.52.

i just treid to burn the DVD on Ulead DVD MovieFactory 3.5 Suite but the file cameout to big i added the 700mb .avi file the file is 1h and 30min. Is there anyway to resize it and still keep the good quality?
I went to project settings and change the MPEG stettings to "Standard play" and thats about 120min DVD. After i change the settings i tried to ad the file and it still came out big 5.78 GB the same as before, which program is almost the same as Ulead DVD MovieFactory 3.5 Suite? i like that the program can build chapters and ad menu and is very user friendly....

Use an encoder that allows you to set your own bitrates, and not just give you a choice a few arbitrary presets. http://members.dodo.net.au/~jimmalenko/AVI2DVD.htm may assist. Your chapters and menu(s) are added at authoring time anyway.
    If in doubt, Google it.

Let me see if i got this right i need to first encode the two files that i want to make a dvd after i have encode them i can use a authoring program and make the chapter that i want and then i can convert the files and then burn them? if i got it right which program do i need when i burn the dvd so it can be played in my dvdplayer? can it be done with nerosmart?

EDIT: Is there any encode program that is very user friendly like 1 click or is it a must to fix bitrate and such because i don't know anything about that

i just converted the files with ConvertXtoDVD v2.0.4.104
but i did not make any chapters on it because i could not decide which timeframe i wanted for every chapter. I Only could make chapter for every 5 minutes or so. Now that i have converted the files with ConvertXtoDVD can i make a menu and chapters using another program? and if so can you recomend some programs...

    Thanks

Tmpgenc DVD Author. Use the Add Video function and load the vobs created by ConvertXtoDVD. If TDA gives you a gibberish error message, delete the IFO and BUP files from the video_TS folder and try again. You can now create menus and add chapters to your heart's content.

I have problem adding all the .VOB files i got 4 .VOB files when i converted my .avi files with ConvertXtoDVD the first 3 .VOB files could be added but when i added the last .vob file this message come up

The way i add the files is be clicking add video then i added the .VOB files

EDIT: for got to ask why i have problem with adding the VIDEO_TS folder.
I start by clicking "Add DVD Video" then i click on the VIDEO_TS folder and then OK. But then a message comes up....

I did what guns1inger recomended but i only removed the .BUP and .IFO to another folder not locaded in the ConvertXtoDVD folder. Was this wrong? i don't belive it's possible that the files will work if a remove them to another folder far away from where the .VOB files are

The reson why i did this was becuase i spent a long time converting everything and tought that if i removed the files now and this program dosen't work then maybe i will need the files when i use another program...

    Thanks for the help
