Got this piece of hardware yeasterday but have some problem with it.
I'm trying to use VirtualDub as the primary program, but i need f.ex. gocap so i can change the video format to PAL from the default NTSC.

In VirtualDub the picture is hacking every 1½ seconds (this disappear if i install divxcodex), but when trying to grab i cannot set the compression other to the one that there is (No Decompression: DX50).
It's like if divx is taking over and i cannot use other compressions.
Can only use it with divx, if i grab something when divx is installed and then trying to convert to other (like xvid) the output file hacks again.

Any suggestion how to get rid of the divx mode (DX50) or whatever it is.
Is it maybe some driver issue for the convertX (2.3.0.3)?

    My specs are.
WinXP Pro (fresh install from yeasterday)
    GeForce GT6800
    2048MB ram
    P4 - 3.2
    Plextor ConvertX PX-M402U

Thanks in advance for any help.

i have the plex also. when I use VDUB, i get the same problem. I just capture with gocap to divx directly; if you wanted to capture to another codec, you prolly need a Canopus or Hauppauge.

    Hmmm.

    Not so good, pretty annoying.
Hope that Plextor comes with some new drivers to change this.
But when capturing in divx with gocap, is it possible to capture the sound in whatever compression i want?

I am not sure, I do not remember being able to change the audio codec either. I think the Plextor capture device was designed primarily for ease of use rather than superior quality or compatibility with other codecs. The idea behind the Plextor is for people that want to capture to Divx without any hassles at all (this means it is easier to use, but less options like codecs) I think you can get a hauppauge for less than $50.

Do You know if there is a way to change some settings so that when the pc starts or reboots, the default mode is PAL instead of NTSC for the ConvertX?
Because i can't use Vdub before i start some other programs to change to PAL.
And do I really need to install some Intervideo stuff, before i can use Gocap?
If I starts Gocap now after I uninstalled all Intervideo stuff, I get an error message, with some Intervideo Multiplexer.

But it's a shame that the device is locked to divx if i would like to grab with no compression and then use vdub to edit/compress etc.
If i f.ex. grab something in gocap and then wanna change to some xvid in vdub, after compression the video has some hacks every 1½ second or so, and this because i think of the divx issue.
    Any suggestion for that?

    Thx

    1. do not know about startup in PAL - I use NTSC only

    2. Yes, you need intervideo since Gocap uses resources from those programs. If you uninstall intervideo, it makes sense that Gocap will not work.

    3. no suggestion for that particular problem, since the device wasn't designed that way.

gdk, If you really want no compression, you have to go with a hauppauge or ATI All in Wonder... I'd say go with hauppauge.
