So Ive got a few high bitrate (approx. 1mbit) WMV files here that I want to do a quick edit of. Primarily this consists of cutting off about the last 5 seconds of said videos and tagging on a different 5 seconds of video in the same place. Then I would like to take these to mpg via TMPGenc. Im just curious as to what the best method would be as to retain what little quality it has left?

mind out of the gutter plz :P
no they are some music videos I had made myself but stupidly forgot to keep dv/avi or mpg versions of. I want to burn them to an svcd but first need to fix up the credits because they extend past the tv's border (the text extends a bit offscreen). -
nvm. I solved it. I forgot I had tmpgenc xpress in my arsenal and I used it to convert the wmv files to dv-avi/720x480/44khz,16bit,PCM, took them into vdub and chopped off the last few seconds and resaved in DSC mode. Then I took my new credits which were already in DV format and used the append clip feature in vdub to tag on the new credits and once again resaved in DSC mode. from there it was a simple process of sending them through tmgpenc to get the mpg files I needed.
