I took a look at the link below and this HDD & USB based device device looks very attractive to me. It is portable but does need a TV screen to play video.

Does any of you have it or seen it playing ?
Please share your opinions.
Thanks

here's a better one.

I'm looking for one that supports flash cars for my digital camera. It woul be a good way to go and transfer movies or pics from Card to HD and vise versa. -garman -
I had considered similar units (from cooldrives and other sources) but bought a 5G (video) iPod. Yes, it doesn't have the high-res capabilities of these units but it works and my G5 converts everything I encounter over to either H264 or "straight" MPEG4 (fairly quickly with ffmpegX or MPEG Streamclip). I have the iPod AV cable and, though it will not give me DVD resolution/quality, it's fine and once the file is in the iPod I know it will play on my TV; no doubt.
I'll next consider the EyeHome as this will give me high-res and will eliminate the need to transfer files off my Mac to another device (as it streams directly from the Mac to the TV). -
Besides these, I found another one, also an USB enclosure with same features PLUS karaoke functions (one microphone input, ability to change keys). The best part is the price, lower than the ones listed previously. Here is the link.

Let's be clear that these USB enclosures are portable but not playable on the road unless you have access to a TV.
The idea is to bring your own collection of DVD movies, home movies, karaoke songs, photos to share with a group of people in a room with a TV. Karaoke party would be great with this box as there is no need to swap the discs.
The iPod or other PMPs are mainly for personal viewing, it's hard to share with a group as the screen is too small.ktnwin - PATIENCE
