I can encode a CVCD movie fine, and it plays fine on my computer. But when I burn it and watch it on my DVD, there is an audio/video syncronization problem
Is this because my DVD is not cvcd compatible? Or have I done something wrong? I have a Pioneer DV 440

I have the same problem. The MPEG file works fine using the wondows media player on my PC. But, once burn the SVCD, there is a sync loss between the audio and video.
PLease help. -
Sounds like its incompatable with your DVD Player to me. Dont expect a very non-standard MPEG format to work in all or many DVD Players.
Solution, make standard compliant VCD's and burn to a 99min CDR.

I have problems with Apex 600A too...well not synchronization problem but some crackles. sometimes the sound will be lost and come back/
I played the same cd on Apex 700 and it plays the cd fine. So should I assume that Apex 600 doesnt properly play CVCD?
