  1. I'm looking for the Panasonic Mpeg Encoder Standalone. All links that all could find on the Net are dead.

Is it still suppose the be the best when it comes to quality?

    Thanks!

  4. Yes guns1inger but you'll see that there's no download of a trial or anything.

deckard8, I hope you are right, TMPGEnc is the one I'm using but I feel like it is giving me movies that could be less "granny". I mean large visible pixels with motion. I understand it is based on the kbps I use but I was hoping to get something a bit better. I think I tried all setting combinations.

If anyone has a list of how to set every settings to get the best possible mpeg-1 please let me know!

    Thanks

what bitrate are you using ?

I have commercially encoded VCDs that have pixellation during dark or high motion scenes. It is the nature of mpeg-1 at that bitrate. Tmpgenc's mpeg-1 encoding is as good as anything else out there.

    what is your source ?
    What is your resolution ?

    Details, man, details.

TMPGEnc is one of the better MPEG-1 encoders. But why are you using MPEG-1? If it's VCD format, you are limited to 1150kbs. You might try raising the Motion Search Precision, but it will slow down the encode.

I assume you've looked through some of the TMPGEnc tutorials? That's probably your best source for getting the best settings and quality.

  7. The Panasonic MPEG Encoder was a very good MPEG-1 encoder at VCD specs. I advocated it for quite a long time. However, even I think that the newer versions of TMPGEnc produce better quality video.

    Stick to TMPGEnc.
